I know, it doesn't really work...but you get the idea.
Head back to the familiar place in the Word -- Galatians. We'll be reading chapter 3 this week, and hey, why not start from the beginning and read 1 and 2 again as well? Letters sometimes make more sense when you read them in chunks, if not in full.
Write down some thoughts, questions or general things you'd like to discuss on Sunday. I'm really looking forward to hearing from you all. I feel like there is something I need to learn, and it will be coming out of your mouths. And to those of you who cannot be there, please share your thoughts through commenting. I really want to hear from you too.
Also, remember to come back to the week's post to get a recap on what happened during the Sunday class time. We often get into interesting stuff, which I try to describe in the comments section.
I love you all more than I can explain...

Obviously the whole Law V. Faith case was a hot topic. Paul, using his confrontations with Peter as an opener cranks on the Galatians but in a love reflecting tone. I love v.1 because a lot of times people have written those same words to me. Or maybe they needed to but didn't??
I mean who can't relate to v.3?
What I want to take from this chapter is the assurance of His PROMISE! Heirs according to the promise.
Heirs means:
1. a person who inherits...
2. a person who succeeds...
3. one who receives or is expected to receive...
Have a great discussion & class!
Ah! Brilliant Paul--Brilliant God. I'm reading along, minding my own business...law...Abraham...promise...one seed, Jesus Christ...v18 "For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise, but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise." As I read that, this thought pops into my head--then why the law? v19 "What then is the purpose of the law?"
Just an observation on God's infinite knowledge of the heart of man, aka me.
I'll keep chewing on this...
roots man, roots
Sunday Recap:
We read Galatians 3 aloud and shared a few thoughts...most which have already been posted here.
We did examine v3-4 in a little more detail -- looking at it in a few different translations.
Check it out:
"Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Have you suffered so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?" ---NKJV
"Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? Have you suffered so much for nothing—-if it really was for nothing?" ---NIV
"How foolish can you be? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort? Have you experienced so much for nothing? Surely it was not in vain, was it?" ---NLT
"Are you going to continue this craziness? For only crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God. If you weren't smart enough or strong enough to begin it, how do you suppose you could perfect it? Did you go through this whole painful learning process for nothing? It is not yet a total loss, but it certainly will be if you keep this up!" ---The Message
Praise God for his truth...
