Galatians 3:1b "Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified." Or, as the NLT puts it, "For the meaning of Jesus Christ’s death was made as clear to you as if you had seen a picture of his death on the cross."
Okay...Paul didn't have this rendering in his field of vision when he wrote under the Holy Spirit's inspiration to the church at Galatia. Heck, Rembrandt wasn't even around yet. However, it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us that we'd spend some time contemplating the cross.
As divinely-created beings, we appreciate that which can be seen. So, take some time this week to meditate on the cross of Christ using this piece of art. Ask God to give you eyes to see. Engage your imagination. Become one of the crowd. Look and listen.

Hey all...just wanted to encourage you to look at the bigger version (there's a link right under the picture on the blog). You can zoom in on that and see the detail of the art. I've been blessed by doing that.
"...And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
interesting to think about the possibility of being so close to the suffering--the blood and sweat--close enough to touch His flesh--close enough to smell the death and sin...
