Galatians 2

Fellow Students of God's Word...Our journey through Galatians continues.
Thanks for your time spent in the first chapter of Galatians and thanks, also for allowing me the privilege of sharing my thoughts on the Word.
As discussed, we will continue on into Galatians 2.
Please try to schedule in time daily to read the chapter.
Don't forget to pray.
God wants to reveal Himself.
ALSO, don't be discouraged if it doesn't look like you think it should on you.
(does that even make sense?--let me know)
You are loved!
You are being prayed for by name!
See ya suckas on Sunday, if not before.
ps...would it seem like a whine if a asked for a post? come on, you can do it...

See...commenting is easy. Anyway, I just wanted to recommend that you check out Acts 10 (you'll find Peter eating with the Gentiles) and Acts 11 (Paul and Barnabas in Antioch). It's amazing to see how the book is woven together! That's one of my favorite things about scripture. Don't get caught up in the book, though. Search for the God of the book!

I've been looking at v17-18 quite a bit. Using different translations, it seems to come across differently on the first reading. If anyone has extra time, check out those verses in different translations and let me know what God is showing you. I'm curious.

I like the NLT
"But what if we seek to be made right with God through faith in Christ and then find out that we are still sinners? Has Christ led us into sin? Of course not? Rather, I make myself guilty if I rebuild the old system I already tore down."

NKJV also good...
"But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor."

This seems to clear it up a bit. Thanks, M for the prodding.

Long time reader, first time commenter.

I have been trying to keep up with you guys as you read through Galatians. Here is some of what strikes me in ch.2:

Paul was bringing the boldness even when he confronted Peter. That was incredible, I mean that is an great picture of life today. Confrontation, leadership, love, hypocracy and even a little fence riding. I guess maybe that goes back to Acts 10 & 11.

The other is vv.19-21. I can just imagine Paul passionately dictating this to someone. Whoever is taking this down has trouble keeping up with him and makes him go back over and over again. Much like the way I have to go back and re-read it over and over again. Maybe they should start printing with additional exclamation points for emphasis!!!!

"Things" begin to seem less relevant the more I grasp the fact that Christ lives in me.

Have great discussion....

Wow! I am really excited about where this Roots thing is going. A few comments to throw in the mix. I think you have to keep going to v19: "For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God." (KJV) Paul is reiterating that keeping the law does not save, it is something that can only come through Christ, not any of our own efforts. He is trying to say I think that we get into trouble when we try to substitute something, even though it may be good, for our faith in Christ.

And you gotta love Paul standing up to Peter in v14. In the Adult class on Sunday we talked about unity in the church from Ephesians 2. Too many times we want to conform others to our way of thinking, instead of DEMONSTRATING to them how to conform to the image of Christ.

Hope you guys have awesome discussion this week.
